Selling on Amazon
How do I sell your products on Amazon?
To re-sell our products on Amazon, either using our Specialist Supplements branding or under your Own label, please follow the following steps:
STEP 1. Apply for an Amazon seller's account:
Amazon may request that you supply an invoice from your supplier (us) as part of your seller account application and approval process. If you require an Invoice or Purchase Order (PO), log into your trade account and create a support ticket for the Orders Team. We will generate and upload an invoice or PO, with your details via the support ticket.
Please remember that you are re-selling health foods and food supplements, NOT medicines.
YOU DO NOT NEED TO SUPPLY THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION:
1) Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) or Food Standards Agency (FSA) New Dietary Ingredient (NDI) Notification as you are not introducing a new dietary ingredient.
2) GMP Certificate: Under UK Law, it is not mandatory that Food Supplements & Foods are manufactured by a GMP certified manufacturer. However, all our products are manufactured in the UK either by EU GMP certified plants or under GMP standards. Therefore, if Amazon or any service provider (eg Payza, Paypal etc.) asks you to provide a GMP certificate for the products, you can state that you are purchasing from a UK wholesaler and mention the above points.
We can, however, supply you with HACCP certification.
STEP 2.
If you are selling under Specialist Supplements Ltd labels...
If you are selling our products under our Specialist Supplements Ltd branding, you MUST NOT create your own Amazon listings.
You need to simply add yourself as a seller to our existing listings by searching by our EAN numbers (which can be viewed here - see tab 2 (Product Information), column F). All of our listings contain 'Specialist Supplements' at the beginning of the name to avoid confusion. For example, 'Specialist Supplements Ashwagandha Botanical Complex 90 Capsules' etc.
Please note, creating your own listings for our products would be in serious breach of both our policy and Amazon's policy, and could lead to the closure of your account with both us and them.
You would only need to create your own listings if you are selling our products under your own label on Amazon (see below).
If you are selling under your own branded labels...
1. Purchase your own EAN / UPC barcodes:
If you wish to sell on Amazon under your own label, you need to purchase your own EAN numbers in order to list your products as new listings on their website.
We cannot supply you with these numbers or codes and you MUST NOT use our existing barcode numbers / EAN numbers or SKUs (product codes) if you are re-selling under your Own Label.
You must also NOT link into other listings / our existing listings - you have to create your own new listings in order to differentiate the products.
You can purchase your own EAN numbers and barcodes from GS1 (http://www.gs1uk.org/) or other such companies (ask Amazon Support for further details if required).
Please note that you are NOT required to display any EAN / UPC barcodes on your product labels in order to sell them on Amazon. They are only required to list the product(s) on the sales platform, as unique product identifiers, or if you are going to be using Amazon FBA (see below).
It is very important to note that if you do not use your own unique EAN / SKUs for your listings, serious issues will arise for both us and you.
NOTE: As mentioned above, customers using our Specialist Supplements EANs / SKUs for their new listings will be in serious breach of both our policy and Amazon's listing policies and we will therefore have no choice but to close their trade account with us.
2. Amazon wants the name of the manufacturer - who do I put?
If you are selling under your own labels, your company is the "manufacturer" for Amazon's purposes. You must not refer to Specialist Supplements Ltd.
3. Amazon wants product SKUs - what do I put?
As mentioned above, if you are selling under your own labels, you must not enter our Specialist Supplements SKUs (product codes) during the setup process with Amazon. This can lead to confusion with our listings and also cause stock inventory issues. The SKUs are for Amazon's purposes only and, just like the EANs mentioned above, DO NOT need to appear on the product labels. We usually suggest to Amazon Own Label re-sellers that they create their own SKUs for these purposes, by simply using the initials of their product names, followed by the quantity. E.g. if your product name is Garcinia Blend, your code could be GB90.
Compliance documentation (GFSI / HACCP)
When requested by Amazon to supply compliance documentation in relation to specific ASINs, we can provide you with an HACCP certificate and covering letter.
Please note, these requests cannot be pre-empted for your entire range.
You need to wait for their requests and upload the documentation for the specific products in question, as and when they are received.
Different types of product (i.e. capsules, powders, liquids, gummies etc) necessitate different certificates and covering letters. Please create a ticket for the Products Team at the time.
Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA)
Shipping to Amazon FBA (if applicable):
The vast majority of our Amazon re-sellers opt to use our dropshipping service, as it is more cost-effective and does not involve sending any stock to Amazon.
However, for those clients choosing to use FBA (Amazon's fulfilment / shipping service), we make it easy to to get your goods direct to Amazon fulfilment centres. Contact the Orders Team for instructions.
In summary...
- We can ship to Amazon directly, just as to any other destination. Normal shipping rates apply. Please see the Shipping and Dropship Rates page here for more information: https://www.dropshipwebhosting.co.uk/trade-prices
- You simply place an order as normal with the "ship to" adress as Amazon. Once we have packed the order, we will advise you of the box dimensions and you can then create the Amazon shipping labels and upload them to a support ticket for the Orders team. When received, we will ship your order to the Amazon address you have confirmed.
Barcodes when using Amazon FBA:
If using FBA, your physical products will have to have a barcode. You have 2 options:
1. Send the products without any barcodes on the label to FBA and pay them to add their barcodes to your products. OR
2. Send them products with the FBA barcodes already incorporated into your label design (only possible if you are selling under your own labels and you supply the artwork).
We recommend anyone using FBA to go with option 2 (have their FBA barcodes already incorporated within their label designs), thereby removing the need for any additional labelling, extra costs and keeping the products looking their best.
Of course, this will only be possible if you are selling under Own Label. Unfortunately, as we are not able to generate FNSKU barcodes in-house (and these do not fit within our standard label barcode areas in any case), you would need to supply your own artwork for the full label for all products, incorporating the FNSKU barcodes supplied to you by FBA.
Restricted products on Amazon
Amazon and other platforms apply restrictions on the sale of certain products / ingredients from time to time. Just because they do not allow the sale of these ingredients on their platforms, it does not mean that they are unsafe or illegal.
We are aware of the following restrictions on Amazon at the time of writing:
- Silymarin
- Hydrocitric acid or HCA
- Glucosamine (over 1140mg per day)
- 5-HTP
- Astragalus root (the powder is fine)
- Dehydrated mycelium powder (we do not use this in any of our products - all of our mushroom ingredients are from the fruiting body)
NOTE: DO NOT try to list your products as medicines on any platforms. You are re-selling health foods and food supplements, NOT licensed medicines.

The easiest and most cost-effective way to achieve this is to supply your own artwork with the barcodes incorporated into your designs. If we are preparing your designs and you would like us to incorporate personalised barcodes for you, we can do this, but there would then be a customisation fee. Please contact the Own Label team for further information and a quote.
